The New Glarus Fire Department will celebrate its 104th Anniversary on August 5th, 2006 at the Fire Station located on 4th Ave. The NGFD will have fire trucks on display and fire truck rides starting at 11:00 a.m.

Celebrate Swiss Independence Day with a program of traditional Swiss entertainment. The Swiss entertainment includes choral folklore music, yodeling, flag throwing, thalerschwingen, alphorn playing, and accordion music. Following the program, everyone is invited to join the dancing and fun that continues through the afternoon. In the event of rain, the Volksfest program will be presented in the high school gym. The program runs from 1-4pm along with dancing from 4-6pm. A small admission fee will be charged at the door.

With the exhibition "About Nothing. Works on paper, 1964 - 2004", ICA presents an overview of works on paper by Geneva based artist John Armleder (b. 1948). The exhibition will present rare works from the 1960's from the artist's private collection that have never been previously shown together with works from private and public collections that will document his production in this particular medium to this date.

The Festival starts Friday night at 6:00 p.m. Following the parade thru the Grove, the Toledo Swiss Singers, along with the Teutonia Männerchor and Damenchor, open the festival with the singing of all three Anthems. These three days will be full of German and Swiss culture. Imported bands for dancing, Children’s Hummel Contest on Sunday afternoon, Steinstossen on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Schuetzenverein target shooting all three days. Demonstrations by The American Turners and the Holzhacker Buam Schuhplattler Gruppe, not to mention all the great German food and beverages.

We look forward to welcoming you at Unspunnen 2006 The 2006 Unspunnen Festival is a festival of encounters, a meeting place for the people of Switzerland, a country rich in colourful customs and culture. They will throw the Unspunnen stone, match their might in the Alpine wrestling ring, dance in traditional costume, make Swiss music, sing and yodel. For their own pleasure and to the delight of all guests who are captivated by Swiss customs. This feast of Swiss folklore really does offer something for everyone - from the folklore evening, folk dancing displays in traditional costume, yodelling concerts and Alpine wrestling to the spectacular grand festival procession and celebrations. For three whole days, Interlaken will become the festive focus of Swiss folklore.
