I married a Swiss man in 9974 and we lived for a couple of years in Switzerland. I learned to speak Deutsche, but mostly I spoke Swiss German. It was fun when we met up with various friends and acquaintances, because upon meeting me for the first time, they would assume I was 100% Swiss, and since I spoke SG they were further fooled. Immediately the question would arise, "von wo sind sie?', and I would tell them they should guess. We would love to hear them guess every canton in Schweiz, and no one EVER would guess the USA. It seemed my American accent covered well for me. I have lots of fond memories, which I plan to share along the way. This is one of my fondest.
