I read somewhere, a while back, that a modest peak in the Swiss Alps was named "Mount India" as a tribute to the good people of Bollywood— who have done much brisk business with Switzerland for a few decades now.

While it's true that Bollywood movies tend to use exotic locales from all over the world for their muscial numbers, Switzerland has been the rampant favourite. I have a feeling it might have to do with opening sequence of a famous Hollywood musical, "The Sound of Music". I keep getting the sense that particular musical set the bar and the Indian hyper-sopranos have been beating Julie Andrews at her own game for a while now.

It's Ironic, the von Trapp Family (and the Sound of Music movie by default) is meant to be Austrian export, so the Austrians should have been benefitting from all the brisk location revenue in question, but I guess the Swiss lucked out (they've always been easier to do business with after all...)

Wish I could find 'Mount India' on the map though.

In the meantime, here's a musical number from "Dastak"
