Singer. Born in Payson, Utah, but grew up in Alaska. Her grandparents, from Canton Basel-Country, immigrated to Alaska in 1941. (see: Kilcher, Jules) She made her first album, “Pieces of You” in 1995: it won the RIAA’s Diamond Award for US sales of over 10 million. She has not only performed in public concerts, but was also invited to sing at the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, at the Vatican’s 1997 Christmas concert in front of Pope John Paul II, and at a charity concert in Washington in 1999 attended by President and Mrs Clinton. In addition to singing, songwriting and performing, she is an actress and poet. She supports several humanitarian causes, and has won a number of awards. She lives in San Diego. She is a first cousin once removed of the actress Q'Orianka Kilcher.
