David Aebischer, 1978-, professional goalkeeper. Born in Fribourg, Switzerland. Started his career with his local club Gottéron Fribourg. His first team in the US was the Chesapeake Icebreakers. In 1998-9 and 1999-2000 he played for the Hershey Bears, and then joined Colorado Avalanche. In March 2006 he was traded to Montreal.  He played in the Swiss national team at the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006 ad Salt Lake City in 2002.

Martin Buser, 1958-, musher. Born Zurich, raced dogs in Switzerland before moving to Alaska in 1979 to learn more about the sport. He gained US citizenship in 2002. Four-time winner of the 1,150-mile-long Iditarod sled dog race, setting record times in 1994, 1997 and 2002. He owns a kennel of 100 dogs, some of which take tourists on glacier rides in the summer. He makes most of his own gear for racing and training – an enthusiasm which almost put him out of the 2005 Iditarod when he sawed off a large part of one finger shortly before the race started.

Martin Gerber, 1974 -, professional goalkeeper. Born in Burgdorf, Switzerland. Started his career in Switzerland with Signau, an amateur team in the second league. After playing for various Swiss teams, he moved to Sweden for the 2001-2 season, and was drafted to Anaheim in 2002. The Mighty Ducks traded him to Carolina Hurricanes in 2004. He played in the Swiss national team at the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006 ad Salt Lake City in 2002.
