Movie director. Born in Ulm, Germany, but grew up in Davos. Arrived in New York in 1990 to study filmmaking, then moved to Los Angeles. His film “Monster’s Ball” (2001) earned the best actress Oscar for its star, Halle Barry. His other successful films include “Finding Neverland” (2004).
