Movie director, producer, and screenwriter. Born Modesto, California. His father had mainly Swiss and British roots.  Lucas is best known for producing the Star Wars saga (starting in 1977), for which he also wrote and directed three prequels,  and the Indiana Jones films starting with “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981). In 1987 he won a special Academy Award for lifetime achievement.
