I moved to the states when I was just 20 and terribly naive. After 6 years in Oklahoma, Texas and then at the end Oregon I decided it was time for me to go back to Switzerland for a couple of months. This would allow me to recuperate financially and emotionally :-). I ended up staying 3 years (going back at least once every year to keep my green card). Then I met my husband and we decided to move to the United Arab Emirates. This would allow us both to fulfill our dream of finally get to the States again. It took us 8 ½ years to finally fulfill this dream. 2 Months ago we moved to Houston. In the meantime our son was born in Texas in 2002, I had acquired my citizenship and my husband got his residency. Now we are here. I am not so sure if the timing was good with the oil being so pricy and the prices in general going up up up and the salaries aren’t. But we did make it and we will make a go of it and see where it gets us. After all ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained’!
