Zurich's best kept secret is its diversity. Like any other major European city, it is the crossroads, melting pot, meeting grounds for a plethora of world-travelers, nomads, emigrés, immigrants, bohemians, dissidents... Nowhere is this more apparent than Zurich Horn, the very tip of the City that juts out into the Lake.
This riviera culture is a marvel of integration: here the young lion and the lamb kebab picnic together; the bikini beauty and the loping swan are reunited in the water; an aural potpourri of Swiss German, French—and Portuguese (for there are Brazilians everywhere...) On summer evenings there are the Rastafarian drum circles; not far off are West African soccer teams at one end, Latin American players at the other... The best kept secret of Zurich Horn is not the spectrum of diversity she plays host to—but rather her fantasy topography. Squint anywhere in Zurich Horn and you could be in the deserts of Oman or the temples of Asia. Or anywhere else you'd like to be...
